• The Opportunity
• Our National Workers Compensation Team is looking for a Workers Compensation Claims Specialist to join our team based in Port Kembla NSW for a 12-month fixed term contract. BlueScope Steel is a Group Self Insurer in NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.

You’ll provide personalised, one-on-one support to our injured employees, helping them navigate their recovery while ensuring compliance with our self-insured obligations.

• What Will You Do?

Managing a portfolio of NSW claims, you will support both the business and injured employees by delivering proactive, empathetic, and expert guidance, you will

• manage the full lifecycle of claims - from initial notification through to resolution, including complex and litigated matters
• liaise with injured employees, medical providers, and managers to drive sustainable return-to-work outcomes
• provide advice and strategies to business leaders across NSW and, on occasion, other states where we are self-insured
• ensure compliance with legislative and self-insurance requirements, maintaining accurate records and meeting governance obligations
• collaborate with colleagues, legal counsel, and external providers to deliver effective, timely, and compliant outcomes

As an experienced Workers Compensation Claims Specialist, you bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to achieve positive outcomes for both our people and the business. In addition, you will bring

• a strong understanding of NSW workers compensation legislation, with the ability to interpret multiple legislative frameworks
• effective communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with employees, managers, regulators, and legal counsel
• a customer-service mindset with empathy for injured workers and the ability to guide leaders across the organisation
• sound technical capability, including working knowledge of payroll systems, claims/injury management systems, Microsoft Office, and workers compensation codes
