We are looking for a skilled WordPress technical support person to assist in building, managing, and finalising a news/media-style website using the Newspaper theme. This role suits someone with experience working on news websites, online magazines, or media outlets, and who is confident setting up ads, plugins, layouts, and general site structure. You need to be a very strong English communicator, comfortable explaining your process clearly. Some tasks will require live screen sharing so I can watch and learn how you complete certain setups. Key Responsibilities You will need to be able to perform the following tasks and demonstrate them via live screen share or video: Set up cPanel, hosting, and install WordPress Set up a website using the Newspaper theme (or similar professional news/magazine themes) Install and configure required plugins including: Broadwalk (ad management) Partyline (functionality enhancements) Plus additional plugins such as security, backups, analytics, and SEO tools Add and configure settings, plugins, and widgets as provided (e.g., Wordfence, UpdraftPlus, All-in-One SEO, etc.) Assist with design, layout, homepage blocks, article templates, category pages, and banner placements Test the site to ensure everything is working smoothly Update ad codes, affiliate codes, analytics, email opt-ins, and similar integrations Troubleshoot site issues including bugs, plugin conflicts, layout problems, and security issues Ongoing website maintenance, including: Updating plugins/themes Fixing errors and improving graphics Adding or designing pages Posting or formatting content when needed Managing site security, backups, and restores if required Communicating with me regularly to clarify details during setup and development Availability You must be available for periodic screen-share sessions sometime between 8am–5pm Melbourne (VIC) time. Contract Type This will start as ongoing, work-as-needed contract work. For the right person, it can develop into regular part-time or full-time employment.
