As project demand continues to grow, E & B Steelfixing Pty Ltd requires a dedicated Welder to support fabrication activities, reinforcement preparation, and site-based welding tasks necessary to maintain construction timelines and quality standards.

Position Purpose
The Welder (First Class) is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks associated with reinforcement steel preparation and structural component repair. The role ensures fabricated and welded components meet engineering specifications, construction requirements, and workplace safety standards.
This position supports both workshop preparation activities and site-based reinforcement support where required.

Duties and Responsibilities
Fabrication and Welding
i. Welding reinforcement bars, steel components, and fabricated assemblies using appropriate welding techniques
ii. Operating welding equipment including arc welding and MIG welding systems
iii. Joining metal sections in accordance with engineering and fabrication requirements
iv. Performing fabrication modifications to reinforcement components where necessary

Preparation and Assembly
i. Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, reinforcement layouts, and specifications
ii. Measuring, cutting, cleaning, and preparing steel materials prior to welding
iii. Aligning and positioning components for welding and assembly
iv. Assisting with preparation of reinforcement cages and structural assemblies

Inspection and Quality Assurance
i. Inspecting welds to ensure strength, alignment, and compliance with specifications ii. Identifying defects and performing corrective welding work where required
iii. Ensuring fabricated components meet project requirements and safety standards

Safety and Equipment Maintenance
i. Maintaining welding equipment, tools, and protective gear
ii. Following workplace health and safety procedures in workshop and site environments iii. Handling materials safely using appropriate protective equipment

Operational Support
i. Working collaboratively with steel fixers, supervisors, and construction teams
ii. Supporting reinforcement preparation during project delivery stages
iii. Assisting with site-based welding or repair work where required
iv. Contributing to efficient workflow across multiple construction projects

Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will have:
i. AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welding) or equivalent qualification, or
ii. AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade plus at least two years of relevant post-qualification experience, or
iii. At least three years of relevant welding and fabrication experience in lieu of formal qualifications

Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate:
i. Experience working with structural or reinforcement steel
ii. Ability to read fabrication drawings and construction specifications iii. Practical experience using MIG or arc welding equipment
iv. Understanding of construction site safety requirements
