Our client, Bluestar Trailers, is a trusted trailer manufacturer based in Tottenham, Victoria, specialising in designing, building, repairing, and selling custom trailers, ranging from tipper, flat bed, enclosed, to machinery trailers.

They pride themselves on quality workmanship, compliance with Australian design and safety standards, and delivering solutions tailored to client needs.

They are looking for a skilled Welder to join their team. As a Welder, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining industrial equipment. You will work with heavy machinery, such as bandsaws and cranes, to assemble and install large pieces of equipment, reading and interpreting codes, symbols, and schematics to determine proper setup and procedures.

The annual salary for this position will be $76,600 to $77,000 per annum plus superannuation.

Duties include:

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.

• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.

• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).

• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools and flame cutting torches.

• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.

• Align components using callipers, rulers, etc. and clamp pieces.

• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).

• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.

• Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.

• Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.

• Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.

• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.

• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.

Qualification and Experience Required:

• Should hold a relevant trade qualification or an AQF Certificate III in welding and fabrication.

• Should possess at least a Certificate IV in Engineering.

• Must have at least one to two (1-2) years of full-time experience in a similar position.

Skills Required:

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrate the ability to perform physical/manual labouring tasks related to a welder in a safe manner.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to read drawings, work to a time frame and complete tasks with a high-end finish.

• Eye for detail and quality.

• Be able to read and produce from computer-generated drawings.
