We are currently recruiting qualified, experienced trades people to fill positions in our well-equipped Wetherill Park and Condobolin workshops. This full-time position offers excellent wages and conditions in our purpose-built facility.
This is an opportunity for the right person to forge a rewarding and secure career with a reputable national company.The welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and products using various welding techniques. This position requires a keen eye for details, a steady hand, and the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications accurately. The welder must possess strong technical skills in welding processers, including MIG, TIG, arc, and oxy-acetylene welding, and be proficient in operating welding equipment safely and efficiently.
Job duties and Responsibility:
1. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements
2. Set up welding equipment, including selecting appropriate welding tools and materials
3. Perform welding operations using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, arc, and oxy-acetylene welding, according to specified requirements
4. Ensure welded components meet quality standards and specifications, including inspecting finished products for defects and accuracy
5. Conduct preventative maintenance on welding equipment to ensure functionality and safety
6. Always adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and organised work area
7. Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and fabricators, to troubleshoot issues and optimize production processes
8. Complete documentation and records related to welding activities, including materials used, hours worked, and project progress
9. Continuously improve welding skills and knowledge through training and professional development opportunities
10. Adhere to company policies and regulations regarding quality, safety, and environmental
Skills and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in welding preferred
• Proven experience as a Welder, with a strong portfolio of past welding projects
• Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, arc, and oxy-acetylene welding
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately
• Strong attention to detail and precision in welding operations
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Knowledge of welding equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment
• Good vision and depth perception for precise welding operations
