Our client, Borders Switchboards Sheetmetal & Powder Coating Pty Ltd, is a specialist in the design, fabrication, and finishing of electrical switchboards, control panels, and sheet metal components. They are known for precision, quality, and delivering reliable, custom solutions to their clients. Their workshop combines advanced sheet metal fabrication with powder coating services, ensuring durable and high-quality products.

As they continue to grow, They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder. This position is key to fabricating and assembling sheet metal components, supporting the production of electrical switchboards and control panels.

• Position: Welder

• Salary: $77,000 plus Superannuation

• Job Type: Permanent, Full Time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform welding and metal joining on sheet metal components using MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques.

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal panels, switchboard enclosures, and related components according to technical drawings and fabrication plans.

• Read, interpret, and work from engineering and workshop drawings to ensure accurate production.

• Inspect and test welded assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and client requirements.

• Collaborate with production and powder coating teams to ensure components are prepared and finished correctly.

• Conduct routine maintenance of welding equipment and tools, reporting any faults or safety hazards.

• Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe handling of materials.

• Maintain accurate records of completed work, including welding details, materials used, and inspections conducted.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Trade qualification or equivalent in Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or a related welding/fabrication qualification with minimum 1 year of professional experience.

• Demonstrated experience in MIG, TIG, and/or arc welding, particularly on sheet metal components.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.

• Experience with powder-coated components is advantageous but not essential.
