The Barcaldine region is in central west Queensland, approximately 440 km west of Rockhampton.
Your new role

Supervise water and wastewater staff, resources, and infrastructure to ensure clean drinking water and effective wastewater treatment
Implement and maintain controls for water quality, sewerage effluent, and water management to comply with regulations and standards
Coordinate and manage repairs and maintenance for installations and equipment to ensure functionality
Assist in preparing budgets for these activities and monitor job costs and expenditures to keep projects within budget
Conduct risk assessments and participate in projects, repairs, and maintenance
Maintain detailed records of compliance, repairs, and maintenance
Ensure continuous operation of water and wastewater services in remote areas with seasonal and adverse weather conditions
Respond to emergency water and sewerage situations, including after-hours and during extreme weather

What you'll need to succeed

Licenced plumber or holder of a Certificate III (or higher) in Water Operations
Valid QLD class 'C' driver's licence
Possession of a General Construction Induction Card
At least 8 years of supervisory experience in water/wastewater plant operations
Proficient in using email, word processing, and spreadsheet software
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical
Extensive knowledge and experience in operating and maintaining activated sludge treatment processes, water supply reticulation, and disinfection
Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures for wastewater treatment plants

What you'll get in return
If you are successful in this role, assistance will be provided to relocate to the quaint town of Barcaldine. Your salary will be based on your skills and experience, ranging from $120k to $125k plus 12% superannuation. Accommodation will be provided for the first three months of your contract, followed by discounted rent for the remainder. This position offers a 9-day fortnight schedule, with the potential for on-call and overtime work, as well as a company vehicle during work hours.
