Summary Artist Interview – Filming & Photography Hello! Thank you for taking the time to look at this brief we're excited to hear back from you and get you onboard with this exciting ongoing project. The brief - We're looking for an independent filmmaker, who can direct, film and capture photos. The project is to film an artist who is based in Chicago, USA . Filming will take roughly 5 hours. We will supply a list of questions. The filming will take place in the artist's studio and a second location which is relevant to the artist, this might be the streets, rooftop, park or cafe. A simple shot list will be provided, with some stylistic video techniques to use in the edit. You'll be expected to add to this with general details and b-roll. The style isn't too polished, handheld is fine. The emphasis is on the detailed shots and the stylistic edit which complements the interview driven narrative. We've found these pretty much shoot themselves, normally artist's studios are colourful, bright and interesting to shoot, then take the artist out of their studio to a stunning location which could be a rooftop, park, urban street etc... Seen as we're shooting these all around the world we really want to get a sense of the locations culture. Potential Filming Dates: 17th -30th of September The scope of the shoot will include: - Filming interview in artists studio - Capturing photographs of the Artist both candid and portrait - Shooting b-roll at alternative location I’ll provide you with a brief containing interview questions. For the shot list, we’d like to leave room for your creative eye. In particular, we encourage: - Experimenting with angles, compositions, and movement that feel intuitive in the moment - Playing with focus shifts, reflections, textures, and negative space to evoke emotion or abstraction - Capturing unscripted gestures, details, and moments that feel personal or visually compelling - Using natural light creatively, shadow play, lens flares, and shifts in lighting can add richness - Following your instincts; often the strongest shots emerge from spontaneity Shooting spec: 1-2 camera shoot. 4K, Log-3. 60fps for b-roll and 24fps for interview.
