About the Position:
As a Truck Driver at Waste Away NT, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery and collection of skip bins across Darwin, supporting residential, commercial, and industrial waste management needs. This full-time position involves operating heavy trucks to transport waste materials safely and efficiently, contributing to the company’s reputation for reliability and sustainability. Your work will directly impact Waste Away NT’s ability to maintain high service standards and promote environmentally responsible waste disposal practices throughout the Northern Territory.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine vehicle checks to ensure trucks are roadworthy and comply with safety standards.
Drive and operate heavy trucks to transport skip bins and waste materials between depots, customer sites, and disposal facilities.
Secure loads, ensuring waste is stowed, balanced, and protected during transit.
Manoeuvre trucks into loading or unloading positions at docks, customer premises, or construction sites.
Coordinate loading, unloading, and delivery of skip bins, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Monitor vehicle performance and fuel consumption, reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle logbooks, and trip details in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Adhere to road transport legislation, fatigue management rules, and workplace health and safety policies.
Interact professionally with clients and site staff to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
Australian citizens and permanent residents are strongly encouraged to apply.
AQF Certificate II with one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience; or an AQF Certificate III.
Minimum of one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in truck driving.
Valid Australian Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR or higher).
Strong knowledge of road transport regulations and fatigue management requirements.
Excellent time management and organisational skills to meet delivery schedules.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients and team members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to safety and environmental compliance in waste handling and transport.
