We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Translator to join our team. The ideal candidate will contribute linguistic expertise, a collaborative approach, and a strong commitment to advancing the company’s ongoing success.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Translator (Language Specialist in Italian) and Strategic Executive Assistant will provide expert linguistic, cultural and executive support to APD’s Managing Director and senior leadership team. This role is pivotal in facilitating multilingual communication, supporting Italian market engagement and ensuring the accuracy of high-level business communications, translations, and client interactions. Combining professional translation and interpreting, tailored Italian language coaching, document localisation, and strategic support, the position underpins APD’s international business development, cross-border collaboration, and internal communication.
This is a highly skilled position requiring a unique combination of professional linguistic expertise, business communication and cultural fluency. The role is essential to APD’s operations and cannot be filled locally due to the need for native level Italian fluency combined with proven translation, interpreting and coaching experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Deliver personalised Italian language coaching tailored to professional and business communication
Translate a range of business and technical documents from English to Italian and vice versa, ensuring accuracy, consistency and use of industry specific terminology
Provide interpreting services during internal and external meetings, both in-person and virtually
Localise marketing materials, social media content and corporate communication for Italian speaking markets
Offer expert advice on Italian cultural practices, communication etiquette and negotiation protocols
Proofread and edit translations to ensure clarity, tone and audience appropriateness
Review machine generated translations and improve output to professional, human quality standard
Manage and prioritise the Managing Director’s daily schedule, including coordination of meetings with international stakeholders
Draft and prepare professional level reports, business correspondence and presentations in English and Italian
Maintain accurate records, track project timelines and prepare performance updates to inform strategic decision making
Maintain high levels of confidentiality, privacy, data protection standards and professionalism when handling sensitive information
Assist in content creation and video editing for communication, marketing and digital campaigns
Adhere to all company policies and occupational health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment and ensure legal and procedural compliance
Perform any other duties as required within your skillset and experience
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
MANDATORY HARD SKILLS
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Languages, Linguistics, Translation/Interpreting, Education, Communications, Business or a related field
Demonstrated experience in teaching Italian as a second language at an advanced or professional level
Proven experience in translation and/or interpreting services (English ? Italian) within business or corporate contexts
SOFT SKILLS
Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English (both written and verbal)
Excellent editing ability in both languages
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and cultural sensitivity
Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
