The Trade Waiter is responsible for delivering professional food and beverage service in a restaurant environment. The role requires advanced waiting skills, strong product knowledge, and the ability to provide high-quality customer experiences consistent with the standards of a fine dining restaurant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Guest Service

Welcome, seat, and attend to guests in a courteous and professional manner.

Present menus, explain daily specials, and assist guests with food and beverage choices.

Take accurate orders and ensure timely service of meals and drinks.

Provide professional wine service, including recommendations, pouring, and matching with menu items.

Respond promptly to guest requests and resolve service issues.

Food & Beverage Knowledge

Demonstrate detailed knowledge of menu items, preparation methods, and dietary considerations.

Offer informed wine, beverage, and food pairing advice.

Maintain current knowledge of promotions, specials, and seasonal menus.

Restaurant Operations

Prepare and set tables according to service requirements.

Clear and reset tables quickly and efficiently.

Process payments using the point-of-sale (POS) system.

Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning and restocking.

Compliance & Safety

Serve alcohol responsibly in line with the RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) requirements.

Follow food handling, hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards.

Maintain cleanliness of service areas, cutlery, glassware, and dining equipment.

Teamwork & Training

Work collaboratively with supervisors, kitchen, and bar staff to ensure smooth service.

Assist in training and guiding junior waitstaff or food & beverage attendants.

Support supervisors in busy service periods and events.
