  • You’ll be an essential part of the Clarence Correctional Centre – Australia’s largest and most advanced correctional facility – by equipping inmates with trade skills that foster rehabilitation and future employment.

As a Trade Instructor – Grounds & Horticulture in the Industries & Trades team, you’ll make a positive impact by

  • Supervising, coaching, training, instructing, and working with staff (inmates experience is highly desirable) to develop their work skills. Ideally, in a trade environment.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe working environment for staff (inmates' experience highly desirable) and visitors to comply with Work Health & Safety legislation.
  • Managing budget and resources efficiently and effectively to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Ensuring quality standards of production, including completing Instruction Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Delivering and understanding regulations or specific work requirements relevant to the trade area.
  • Delivering and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety requirements and their application within the context of a workshop and/or industry environment.
  • Contributing to teamwork by working collaboratively with others to achieve the goals and objectives of the Centre
  • Delivering the highest level of personal integrity and ethical behaviour

To be successful in this role, you’ll have

  • Certificate IV in Horticulture or Cert III in Parks and Gardens
  • Solid experience in grounds and horticulture
  • Ability to obtain (or willingness to complete) Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and Cert III in Correctional Practice
  • Knowledge and understanding
