Toolmaker position available to join one of our SQS team – WA Cutting Services in WA

Main Objective
To make and repair tools for all machine tools and other production machinery

Duties
To operate all equipment ensuring that machinery is kept running to maximum efficiency and that all documentation is completed as required
To repair and maintain all production machinery
Study drawings to determine dimensions on products
Check accuracy of finished product and materials. To repair any damaged or broken parts
To ensure most cost-efficient use of plate, liaising with programmers where necessary
To mark cut items clearly as per program sheet and store offcuts appropriately
To assist with loading/unloading of inwards and outwards material
To ensure machine is maintained correctly conducting any daily checks and any daily maintenance and recording these as required, as well as reporting any repairs and/or maintenance issues to Supervisor
To ensure drive rails are kept clean and free from damage
To ensure machine is kept clean, and area around machine is tidy and to assist in general housekeeping of the Workshop, as required or as instructed
To notify Manager/Supervisor when consumable stock levels are at the specified re-order level
To notify Manager/Supervisor whenever changing an oxygen pack
To operate all cranes and lifting equipment as per the Safe Operating Procedures for that equipment
To check each completed job and sign off the inspection
Perform duties of Storeperson/General Hand as per respective Job Descriptions as and when required
To supervise the work of any Gen hand/Storeperson when they are working as an offsider and to ensure that all safety rules, regulations and procedures are adhered to and that all appropriate PPE is utilised
To perform any other duty as instructed by any Manager/Supervisor

Skills and Knowledge required
Ability to operate CNC equipment
Read basic engineering drawings
Able to work productively, largely unsupervised
Willingness to learn to operate new equipment
Knowledge and experience with steel
