Why this role matters The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country. We aim to provide a holistic response to women, with and without accompanying children, who are experiencing domestic and family violence and related homelessness, emphasising the principles of empowerment, self-determination, and an acknowledgement of the dynamics of domestic violence in a socio-political context. About the role We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to provide joint operational leadership of a women’s crisis accommodation service supporting victim survivors of family violence. Reporting to the Family Violence Program Manager, you will lead trauma-informed accommodation, case management, outreach and after-hours response services, ensuring practice is child-focused, strengths-based and compliant with quality and accreditation standards. This permanent, full-time role includes staff leadership, risk management, partnership development and participation in an on-call roster. Salary is in accordance with SCHADS Level 6. Due to the nature of this service, to identify as a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s.31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). How you will make an impact Lead day-to-day operations of family violence accommodation, case management and outreach services Ensure service delivery aligns with internal policies, best practice, funding and accreditation requirements Provide specialist leadership on complex case management, risk and critical incidents Monitor service performance, quality, compliance, reporting, budgets and client brokerage Manage service resources including property, vehicles and equipment Build and maintain strong relationships with government, funders and community partners Advocate for service users and contribute to service enhancement, including grants and tenders Maintain accurate client records and promote service user participation and evaluation Chair meetings and participate in the on-call roster Provide line management, supervision and support to Family Violence Case Support Workers Foster a collaborative team culture and work closely with the co-Team Leader Implement effective communication, handover and intake systems Support reflective practice, staff wellbeing, health and safety Recruit, develop and manage staff performance in partnership with the Program Manager Review data, feedback and outcomes to inform continuous improvement Support implementation and review of practice models and service delivery processes Lead practice development initiatives and sector engagement Build strong local community connections Report to the Program Manager on service performance and compliance What you will bring Degree qualification in Social Work (essential) Demonstrated experience in social work practice Experience in the family violence sector, including residential care settings Experience managing or overseeing case management and outreach services Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice Highly developed communication, liaison and negotiation skills Experience building partnerships across government and community sectors High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, email and client management systems) Working With Children Check What we offer As a registered NFP we offer our eligible employees real and meaningful benefits such as; NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit ($2,650) Flexible working conditions Health, fitness and financial discounts / benefits Paid parental leave - 12 weeks Up to 8 weeks leave per year through our purchase leave scheme Up to 5 days paid leave per year to ‘volunteer’ in a TSA program or activity How to Apply If you are excited by this unique opportunity, the above sounds like you, and you have a heart for working for an organisation that truly does transform lives, we would love to speak to you.
