Role Summary

We’re seeking a highly skilled engineer with deep expertise in Python and React, ideally with startup experience and a strong grasp of scalability and performance. Spreadsheets power global commerce and decision-making, and we’re redefining their potential. Responsibilities
• Architect, develop, and maintain core spreadsheet functionality within the Sourcetable application
• Take technical ownership of key components, including machine learning and permissioning features
• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement specifications and solve complex technical challenges
• Deliver clean, modular, and well-tested code using Python and React.js
• Ensure scalability and performance across the platform
• Uphold engineering best practices, including version control, continuous integration, testing, and documentation
• Contribute to process improvements and support evolving product priorities

About you
We’re looking for someone who brings technical depth, startup grit, and a passion for building complex systems. Ideally, you:
• Have 9+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Are highly proficient in Python and React
• Understand both SQL and NoSQL databases and when to use each
• Have worked extensively with spreadsheets or spreadsheet-like interfaces
• Design for scalability, performance, and clean architecture
• Possess a deep understanding of memory management and system optimization
• Thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy solving hard problems
• Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across team

Relevant Qualifications
CS Degree, or comparable technical experience
