The role involves preparing and cooking Italian and Mediterranean dishes, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and consistency. You will manage daily kitchen operations, supervise and train staff, monitor stock, and maintain food safety and hygiene practices. The Chef will also contribute to menu planning and the creation of seasonal dishes to enhance the dining experience. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role, strong culinary and leadership skills, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment. Task & responsibilities Oversee and manage all aspects of food preparation and culinary activities. Develop and update menus, ensuring they meet high-quality standards. Accurately estimate food requirements and manage food and labour costs. Implement strategies to minimize food wastage. Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff. Recruit, train, and manage kitchen personnel. Address and resolve any issues or customer complaints that arise. Ensure all dishes are finished to the highest standard before serving. Perform quality control on plates prepared by other team members. Handle administrative tasks related to the kitchen operations. Manage inventory and order supplies as needed. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and stock room. Adhere to nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards. Qualification & experience A relevant Diploma qualification plus at least one year of full-time post-qualification experience in a similar role; OR a minimum of three years of experience as a Chef. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent time management and organisational abilities. A passion for culinary arts and a commitment to quality and innovation. Knowledge of best practices for training kitchen staff and implementing kitchen procedures. Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
