We are a scuba diving centre in Sydney and have already completed the data migration from our existing Square online store to a new Shopify platform. We have all product, customer, and order data successfully transferred. We are now at the critical final stage and require an experienced professional to handle the domain switch and ensure a seamless, SEO-safe transition. Your key responsibilities will include: Domain Name Switch: Safely and correctly point our existing domain to the new Shopify store with zero to minimal downtime. 301 Redirects: Implement a comprehensive 301 redirect strategy to ensure all existing links (e.g., product pages, collections, blog posts) from our old site are correctly redirected to their corresponding new URLs on Shopify. This is crucial for preserving our search engine rankings and preventing broken links. SEO Finalisation: Review and optimize the SEO settings within our new Shopify store. This includes verifying that all meta titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, and other on-page SEO elements have been correctly carried over or are properly set up for the new platform. Post-Migration SEO Audit: Conduct a post-launch check to ensure no crucial links or SEO data were lost and that search engines are properly crawling and indexing the new site. Google Analytics & Search Console: Ensure Google Analytics and Google Search Console are correctly set up and tracking data accurately on the new Shopify domain. The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience with website migrations, specifically from Square/Squarespace to Shopify. A strong understanding of SEO best practices, particularly as they relate to website migrations and domain switches. Expertise in setting up and managing 301 redirects to prevent loss of "link juice." Familiarity with Shopify's admin and SEO features.
