We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Sheep Farmer on behalf of our client, Hillcroft Farms Pty Ltd, a well-established mixed farming enterprise based in Lol Gray, Western Australia. This is a full-time, permanent role responsible for the planning, organisation, and management of the farm’s sheep production operations.

About the Role
Reporting to the directors and working collaboratively with other livestock and cropping staff, the Sheep Farmer will oversee the management of Hillcroft Farms’ sheep operations. This includes breeding, health monitoring, paddock rotations, and general livestock management in support of the farm’s broader cropping and piggery integration.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
In accordance with the ANZSCO classification 121322 – Sheep Farmer, duties include:
• Planning, managing, and monitoring the daily care, breeding, and raising of sheep
• Developing and implementing strategies for flock health, nutrition, and reproduction
• Monitoring and managing pasture utilisation and feed supplementation
• Overseeing lambing programs, weaning, drafting, and animal movements
• Maintaining accurate livestock records including treatments, weights, reproduction, and mortality
• Planning and supervising seasonal activities including crutching, shearing, and parasite control
• Ensuring the application of best practice animal welfare and biosecurity standards
• Supervising and training farm workers involved in livestock care
• Monitoring market trends and contributing to livestock sales planning
• Operating and maintaining farm infrastructure, including fences, water systems, and yards
• Liaising with veterinarians, agronomists, and suppliers to support animal health and production

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be eligible for this role, applicants must meet one of the following:
• Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree or higher qualification (e.g. Agriculture, Animal Science); OR
• Have at least 5 years of relevant full-time work experience in sheep farming in lieu of formal qualifications; OR
• Have a combination of qualifications and experience deemed equivalent under the Australian framework
Additional Requirements:
• Proven experience managing sheep operations, including breeding, husbandry, and pasture management
• Sound knowledge of animal health and reproduction practices
• Ability to maintain records and interpret data for decision-making
• Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS), animal welfare, and environmental compliance
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Experience operating farm machinery and using livestock management software is highly regarded
• Current driver’s licence is required
