About

Harmony is recognised as a global leader in gold and copper mining with over 75 years of history from our base in South Africa. But not everyone knows about our journey in Australasia, a journey that's been underway for over 25 years and is shaping an award-winning and brighter future than ever. Harmony took its first steps in Australasia in February 2000, with the acquisition of New Hampton Goldfields and Hill 50 Gold shortly thereafter. These acquisitions gave us an established operational mining presence in Western Australia and a firm foundation for expansion in the region. Gradually, our focus turned exclusively to Papua New Guinea and in March 2007, we were granted our mining license to develop Hidden Valley Mine in the Morobe Province. Our award-winning Hidden Valley Mine operation is a testament to our technical engineering expertise, operational strength and our positive impact and investment in our local communities. We deeply value the contributions of our PNG teams, with over 2,000 employees and contractors who continue to drive our success. Building on our success in Hidden Valley, the Wafi-Golpu project represented the next era of world-class mining for Harmony. As one of the largest copper-gold block cave projects, this Tier 1 asset has the potential to deliver long-term economic and social benefits to Papua New Guinea. Harmony returned to Australia in December 2022 with the acquisition of the Eva Copper project, extending our diversification into copper - a future-facing metal critical to the energy transition. This greenfield copper-gold resource is poised to become the largest new metal mine in Queensland. With a minimum 15-year mine life and potential for extension, the project presents a significant investment in North West Queensland.
