The Role Macquarie University Health Clinics (MUH Clinics) is seeking experienced Medical Receptionists / Administrative Assistants who are interested in stepping into a Senior Medical Receptionist and Administrative Assistant role within our Orthopedics and Neurology clinics. The successful applicant will play a key role in ensuring continuity of high-quality patient care and smooth day-to-day clinic operations during this period. The Senior Medical Receptionist and Administrative Assistant will provide high-level administrative and reception support, being as a key point of contact for patients, clinicians and internal stakeholders, this role supports clinic operations, billing processes and the supervision of administrative workflows. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will support the delivery of a professional, patient-centred service while contributing to the efficiency and continuous improvement of administrative processes. This role will be of particular interest to experienced Level 3/4 administrative staff who are looking to broaden their skills and take on greater responsibility in a senior support role. Key Accountabilities Include (but are not limited to): Acting as the first point of contact for patients attending the clinic, providing a professional and welcoming experience Providing first-level escalation support for patient queries and administrative issues, escalating complex matters as required Supporting private health insurance and Medicare billing processes, including reconciliation and liaison with Macquarie University Health and Macquarie University Finance teams Coordinating surgical bookings including liaising with the hospital, generating informed financial consents and taking deposits. Coordinating daily administrative workflows to ensure efficient clinic operations Supporting, mentoring and guiding reception and administrative staff as required Assisting with onboarding and training of new administrative staff Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the clinic’s administrative processes Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient records at all times Why Join Us You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of integrated healthcare in Australia. About You We are seeking an experienced and professional administrative staff member who thrives in a patient-focused, fast-paced clinical environment. You will bring strong knowledge of medical reception and administrative processes, confidence in handling escalations, and the ability to work collaboratively with both clinical and non-clinical teams. You will be someone who leads by example, demonstrates initiative, and is keen to develop further within Macquarie University Health.
