- Are you a strategic media relations specialist with a knack for shaping public conversations? Join AFCA as our Senior Media Adviser and help us drive influence, reach new audiences, and protect our reputation across traditional and emerging media platforms.
- About the Role
- As a key member of AFCA’s media team, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering our media strategy. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, journalists, and other stakeholders to ensure AFCA’s voice is heard in the national conversation, especially on issues that matter to Australian consumers and the financial services industry.
- This is initially a 12-month contract role.
- What You’ll Do
- Be the first point of contact for media enquiries, providing timely and strategic responses.
- Collaborate with Lead Ombudsmen and senior leaders to identify proactive media opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, producers, and media outlets across the country.
- Develop and deliver impactful media campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Monitor media coverage and provide daily clippings and insights to internal stakeholders.
- Use data to track media reach, sentiment, and influence, refining strategies for greater impact.
- Contribute to a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Qualifications
- What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in media, communications, or public relations.
- Deep understanding of the Australian media landscape and how journalists operate today.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to brief media on sensitive issues.
- Experience in issues management and stakeholder engagement.
- A creative mindset and a proactive approach to storytelling.
- A collaborative spirit and sound judgment under pressure.
