Job Description Summary: The Senior Manager, Software Engineering & Project Delivery plays a dual leadership role in driving the successful delivery of Rocket Software solutions and overseeing the development of world-class products. This position is responsible for managing complex projects and programs, often involving multiple workstreams and Agile methodologies, while ensuring adherence to Rocket’s delivery standards and best practices. Projects may range from technology upgrades to major business system transformations and require close collaboration with consultants, engineers, end users, and senior leadership across Rocket, partner, and customer teams. In addition, this role leads a global team of software and quality engineers focused on building innovative, high-performing solutions within the Rocket Software portfolio. The Senior Manager is expected to provide strategic direction, foster technical excellence, and maintain a culture of collaboration and accountability. Acting as a key influencer, this individual ensures exceptional customer experiences, drives operational efficiency, and champions continuous improvement across both project delivery and product development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Program Leadership: Define program scope, objectives, and success metrics for software development initiatives. Develop the project plan and schedule, identifying key milestones and pre-requisites Will be highly organized and detail-oriented, must track the activity of all global engineers, quality assurance engineers to ensure not only that customer expectations are met, while also plan for future innovation Execution & Delivery: Oversee multiple projects and teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions. Measuring: Checking project progress toward meeting its objectives Evaluating: Determining the cause of deviations from the plan Determining and taking corrective actions Agile Program Management: Implement and champion Agile practices across teams; facilitate product planning and program-level ceremonies. Advise customer project teams of industry project management best practices and guidance in Agile methodologies Establish the Rocket delivery Agile project management framework on customer projects Lead Agile ceremonies such as product backlog reviews, sprint planning meetings, and scrum meetings Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with engineering, product, business leaders, and customer-facing stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and program objectives. Risk & Issue Management: Identify risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve cross-team dependencies. Responsible for leading the development and quality assurance teams to review customer requirements, holding design meetings, conduct peer code reviews, and ensuring the team is delivering the correct requirements Ensure that bug fixes are released in a timely manner and that the development team is responsive to the global technical support team Team Development: Mentor engineers, technical leads; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Coaching and mentoring team members of all skill levels to perform optimally Building out the development and testing teams in the region and will be required to onboard your team and assist in training your new team members Collaborate with other Rocketeers across geographies and technologies to ensure Rocket remains the leader in the industry Governance & Reporting: Follow governance frameworks and deliver clear, timely status updates to senior leadership and customer-facing stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across all program activities. Budget & Resource Management: Manage allocated budgets and optimize resource allocation. Required Qualifications 8+ years in software development and program/project management 3–5 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale software programs Strong understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, verse in multiple platforms (Linux, Mainframe, etc.) Proficiency in Agile Tools (Jira, GitHub) Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Preferred Qualifications Experience working with the Federal Government in Australia Experience with distributed systems and enterprise-scale applications Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern software architecture Advanced degree (MBA or MS in Engineering) Certifications: PMP, PGMP, or Agile certifications (e.g., SAFe, ScrumMaster) Travel Requirements
