We are seeking a technically astute and commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant to join their corporate finance team. This is a high-visibility role that offers the opportunity to influence financial reporting for one of the country’s most recognisable retail groups.
The Opportunity
You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the company's financial position. You will manage complex technical accounting requirements while partnering with various business units to drive accuracy and transparency across the retail portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Statutory Reporting: Lead the preparation of half-year and full-year statutory financial statements in compliance with AASB/IFRS and ASX listing rules.
Month-End Leadership: Oversee the month-end close process for key corporate entities, ensuring all reconciliations and journals are completed to a high standard.
Technical Accounting: Act as a subject matter expert on complex accounting standards (e.g., AASB 16 Leases, revenue recognition) and provide guidance on commercial transactions.
Audit Management: Manage the relationship with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process with timely resolution of queries.
Internal Controls: Monitor and enhance the internal control environment (SOX-lite) to mitigate financial risk across the retail network.
Process Transformation: Identify and lead initiatives to automate financial reporting workflows and improve the speed of the month-end cycle.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
This role requires a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses the technical capability expected of an ASX-listed environment.
Qualifications: CA or CPA qualified is essential. Big 4 or Mid-Tier audit experienced candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in financial accounting, ideally within a large-scale retail, FMCG, or complex corporate environment.
Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in Australian Accounting Standards and a proven ability to interpret and apply complex financial legislation.
Systems: Proficiency in large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365). Advanced Excel skills are a prerequisite.
Soft Skills: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate financial insights to senior leadership and non-finance teams.
