About the Role
Our client are a local government organisation based in Abbotsford, VIC. They are currently seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to come in and join their team on a temp contract opportunity until end of December 2026.
Candidates for this position must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or Finance
- CPA/CA qualification (Desirable)
- Experience with Technology One System
- Previous experience as a Finance Business Partner
Key responsibilities will include:
Budgeting & Long-Term Planning: Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Annual Budget and Long-Term Financial Plan to ensure Council’s multi-year financial sustainability.
Statutory Reporting & Audit: Manage the preparation of Annual Financial Statements and lead the external audit process, ensuring full compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
Management Accounting: Deliver monthly performance reports and technical advice to the Executive and Audit Committee, maintaining rigorous internal controls over budget profiles.
Business Partnering & Support: Act as a strategic advisor to Council Branches, providing financial insights and service excellence to help departmental leaders achieve their operational goals.
Systems & Process Optimisation: Provide expert support for financial software (Technology One) and continuously streamline accounting workflows to improve service delivery and efficiency.
Policy & Strategic Contribution: Develop strategic Branch plans and recommend new financial policies to align Council operations with industry best practices and evolving regulations.
Unit Leadership & Compliance: Coordinate team activities to meet corporate goals while ensuring strict adherence to OHS requirements and professional development standards.
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or Finance
- CPA/CA qualification (Desirable)
- Experience with Technology One System
- Previous experience as a Finance Business Partner
