Established in 2004, JBL is looking to add a senior lawyer to the team. Based in Bendigo, the firm currently practices in the following areas:
Wills and Probate;
Estates Administration;
Company Trusts;
Business Licencing;
Commercial Disputes; and
Conveyancing

About the Role

Looking for someone to step into everything but conveyancing really, though there is some flexibility in terms potential practice areas. Wills and Probate, as well as Estates Administration, are central and we are seeking experience in that area. Less focused on Business Licencing and Commercial Disputes, but experience in those areas is of course desirable. Depending on experience, there is the option to add in other areas of practice - specifically thinking about Family Law and Migration matters.

Responsibilities

Drafting, reviewing, and finalising documents.
Providing legal advice and representation to clients.
Independently managing a caseload and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Providing supervision to a junior lawyer as required.

Key requirements

Hold Full Practising Certificate to practice Law in Victoria.
Relevant Legal degree/qualifications.
Working with Children Check, a Police Check, and a current Driver’s license.

Required Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to adapt the style of communication to suit clients.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Solid understanding of the relevant areas of law.
Strong negotiation skills and a willingness to advocate for clients.
3+ years of experience as a civil lawyer.

Pay range and compensation package

Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Also open to an arrangement re a stake in the business for the right candidate (either as a percentage share of the business or as a fellow director depending on level of experience and preference).
