About this role We are looking for a motivated, passionate forensic accountant with business valuations experience (or a keen interest in this area) to join our Melbourne Forensic Consulting team as a Senior Associate or Manager. There are extensive opportunities for career progression in this role – you’ll enjoy a high level of autonomy and visibility, with direct access to Partners and opportunity to develop both personally and professionally, on your own terms. The team brings together a diverse group of accomplished professionals from a range of backgrounds, including some of Australia’s most highly-regarded forensic accountants and expert witnesses, offering different perspectives and skillsets and collaborating under an ethos of inclusion and belonging. They provide bespoke advice to clients on a variety of matters including business valuations, commercial loss and damage claims, insurance events and investigations. Some of the exciting projects this team is currently working on, or have recently completed, include: Asset and funds tracing investigation of more than 1.35 million pages of bank statements and general ledgers Valuation of a high-value and complex family group in the food manufacturing sector with a value in excess of $185 million Asset and funds tracing investigations in a deceased estate matter involving tracing overseas bank accounts and real property assets Assessment of loss for plaintiffs and defendant in complex personal injury matters where the loss exceeds $5 million Fraud investigations in the private and public sectors involving complex employee and third-party fraudsters Key responsibilities Review disparate financial information and identify critical financial elements to the dispute Identify documents that will assist in the determination of issues in dispute Liaise with clients and referrers in relation to obtaining information and communicating outcomes Research and analysis of a variety of business, industry and economic data and information Detailed review and analysis of the financial performance of a business Create complex financial models and the use of data analytics software and programs Assist in the preparation of expert witness reports and other deliverables for use litigation Development of relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and intermediaries You will be encouraged to develop your commercial acumen and wider skills by participating in business development initiatives for the Forensics team, as well as building your own personal brand and network. Skills and experience Required Qualification(s) and / or professional accreditation(s) in a relevant discipline such as Business / Commerce, Accounting or Finance, or other relevant professional or overseas qualification(s) Significant experience in an accounting environment, preparing business valuation reports and commercial loss and damage reports for disputes Fluent written and spoken communication skills, as well as excellent report-writing and presentation skills Analytical and critical thinking skills, approaching scenarios with an open mind and strong attention to detail Well organised with and developed time management skills, with the ability to adhere to strict deadlines and initiative to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances Desirable Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Copilot and Office suite (primarily Excel and Power BI) and the use of data analytics programs If you’re interested in this role but don’t feel that you match every single one of our requirements, we would still love to hear from you and explore the unique skillset and attributes that you can bring to the team.
