Role Purpose
The primary purpose of the role is to coordinate and respond to offers across all archival formats. This includes identifying, analysing, and assessing potential acquisitions, making recommendations, negotiating rights and access arrangements, and liaising and developing relationships for building and stewarding the State Library collections
Key Outcomes of the Role
The successful officer is expected to achieve the following key outcomes:
Acquisition Assessment and Recommendation: Assess potential acquisitions to determine their suitability for the collection, covering content significance, use, and viability, and subsequently make appropriate recommendations.
Donor and Rights Management: Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure donor agreements are completed, including the management of rights and access, to facilitate timely access to collections.
Collection Systems and Cataloguing: Work within the Library’s collection management systems to search, create, and edit catalogue records.
Specialised Acquisition Support: Work with other teams as required to manage specialised potential acquisitions.
Collection Intake Management: Lead the necessary administration to bring collection material into the Library and manage the end-to-end offer to receipt process.
Information Provision: Provide information to staff, groups, and colleagues to ensure a clear understanding of the Library’s acquisitions procedures.
Research Services: Provide quality, customer-focused information and research services as required
