Role Description
This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Senior Accountant to join the finance team of this dynamic agribusiness. In a structure designed for rapid learning and growth, you'll report directly to both the CFO and Financial Controller. This is a truly hands-on role where you will take ownership of core financial processes while also preparing crucial analysis and insights for senior leadership. You’ll play a vital role in modernising financial operations, driving process improvements, and ensuring the company's long-term success.
This is a permanent, full-time position located in Sydney. You'll join a supportive team that values work-life balance and offers significant professional growth opportunities as the business continues to expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end reporting including journals, reconciliations, and analysis for both entity and group levels.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, taxation, and internal policies.
- Oversee tax compliance by preparing statutory returns, including BAS, GST, FBT, and payroll tax.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors, and other key partners.
- Handle operational finance, including tracking livestock and commodity movements, and reviewing cost allocations by enterprise.
- Reconcile key accounts, including inter-entity loans, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity management for the Financial Controller and CFO.
- Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts, and conduct detailed variance analysis for management.
- Contribute to board reporting by preparing and collating financial information.
- Oversee AP/AR processes, ensuring high data integrity and alignment with the chart of accounts.
- Drive process improvements by developing and documenting enhancements to financial systems.
- Provide training and mentorship to finance staff on best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- CA/CPA qualification (essential).
- Experience in agriculture, food & beverage, wholesale, manufacturing, or a similar product-based/private company environment is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in both financial and management accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling.
- Knowledge about Xero, Approval Max.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support others.
