The role coordinates the work of front-of-house staff, manages stock levels and retail displays, and ensures that all transactions, pricing, and store procedures are completed accurately and in line with safety and security requirements.
Working in a remote community environment, the Retail Supervisor plays an important role in maintaining reliable access to essential goods, managing customer enquiries and complaints, and supporting a clean, organised, and welcoming store environment. The position also contributes to staff training, rostering, and development, helping to maintain strong service standards and smooth operations across the store.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operations of the Bass Cattle Station Store to ensure customers receive prompt, friendly service and high-quality goods.
• Respond to customer enquiries, requests, and complaints in person, by phone, and via email, resolving issues professionally.
• Supervise retail and hospitality staff, including preparing weekly rosters, allocating duties, and monitoring performance to maintain service standards.
• Support recruitment processes by assisting with interviewing, onboarding, training, and performance development of new front-counter staff.
• Train team members on store procedures, including handling complex transactions, customer issues, and compliance requirements.
• Manage the POS system and cash-handling processes, including balancing the till, closing procedures, and securing the premises.
• Review returned goods and determine appropriate action, including replacement, refund, or further investigation.
• Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and coordinate ordering to maintain availability and minimise waste.
• Ensure products are correctly priced, rotated, and displayed, including monitoring expiry dates and reducing shrinkage through effective stock control.
• Maintain store presentation and cleanliness by overseeing regular cleaning of shelves, fridges, counters, and public areas.
• Receive and manage deliveries, verify accuracy of goods received, and address any stock discrepancies with suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and security procedures, including safeguarding cash, stock, and store facilities.
• Maintain accurate administrative records and reports using the POS system and Microsoft Publisher, and use Outlook to distribute sales reports and documentation.
• Build positive relationships with local community members by providing welcoming, respectful, and culturally aware customer service.
• Demonstrate initiative in identifying operational issues and supporting continuous improvement in store operations.

Minimum Requirements:
• 1 to 2 years work experience working as a supervisor in a retail setting.
• Ability to work in a remote location.

Salary Range: $70,000 plus Superannuation.
