About

The Trustee For Vb 2581 Property Trust trading as BP Boyne Island Fuels, operates a busy forecourt and convenience retail outlet serving the Boyne Island community and passing travellers. The site prides itself on quick, friendly service, reliable fuel supply, a well-merchandised shop, and a strong focus on safety and compliance across a seven-day trading environment.
We’re seeking a hands-on Retail Manager to lead day-to-day store and forecourt operations, grow sales, and set the service standard for our team.

Position: Retail Manager
Location: Boyne Island, QLD

Key Responsibilities
• Drive loss prevention and cash-handling controls, including end-of-day balancing, refunds/voids oversight and incident reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all licence conditions, brand standards and company policies; prepare for and pass internal and external audits.
• Monitor wet-stock and fuel reconciliations (e.g., deliveries, variances, tank readings), escalate anomalies, and coordinate maintenance when required.
• Own the store budget and targets—forecast sales and margins, manage costs, and report on weekly/monthly performance.
• Implement buying and pricing decisions in line with margin goals; build strong supplier relationships and negotiate promotions and supply terms
• Uphold presentation standards—cleanliness of forecourt, pumps and amenities; ensure merchandising and planograms are executed.
• Recruit, roster and coach staff; set expectations, deliver on-the-job training, and supervise performance to create a safe, customer-centred culture.
• Plan and execute local marketing: in-store displays, point-of-sale, community tie-ins and digital notices to lift basket size and footfall.
• Lead from the front on the shop floor—supporting sales, assisting customers with fuel, lubricants and convenience lines, and resolving service issues promptly.
• Shape the in-store range and presentation for both forecourt and shop: plan stock levels, manage re-orders and rotations, and set clear service benchmarks.
• Maintain accurate records across POS, daily takings, banking, returns and invoice reconciliations; ensure clear audit trails at all times.
• Oversee workplace health and safety, with particular attention to petroleum handling, hazardous substances, manual tasks and emergency procedures.
• Use sales data and customer feedback to refine product mix, service standards and team training plans for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience
• Minimum 1 year of retail leadership (store manager/assistant manager/supervisor), ideally in fuel, convenience or fast-paced multi-SKU environments.
• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or equivalent.
• Proven capability with budgets, pricing, rostering and supplier coordination.
• Confident with POS/back-office systems and basic Excel/reporting.
Hours & Remuneration
• Full-time: 38 hours per week, including weekends as required.
• Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 plus superannuation per annum.

Personal Attributes
We are looking for someone who is:
• Customer-first mindset with strong people leadership and coaching ability.
• Commercially savvy—comfortable making pricing, merchandising and purchasing decisions.
• High attention to detail, particularly with safety, compliance and record-keeping.
• Calm under pressure, organised, and adaptable to changing trading demands.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach.
• Availability for a rotating roster across weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
