About the Role
The Residential Care Officer supports people living in supported accommodation to live meaningful and independent lives. You will assist residents with their daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and social participation, ensuring every person feels respected and supported. You will follow care and behaviour support plans, report changes, and help maintain a safe, welcoming home environment. This role suits someone who is caring, reliable, observant, and calm under pressure.

Main Responsibilities
Resident Care and Support
• Provide daily assistance such as personal care, meals, Cleaning, and community engagement
• Administer or prompt medication safely, following company policy and each resident’s care plan.
• Support residents in attending appointments, programs, and social activities.
• Encourage residents to develop life skills and independence through positive reinforcement.
• Build trusting relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Care and Behaviour Plans
• Understand and follow each resident’s Care Plan and Behaviour Support Plan (BSP).
• Observe residents’ routines, behaviour, and wellbeing, noting any changes.
• Contribute to updating or writing support plans based on observations, team discussions, or professional input.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and allied health professionals to ensure the plans reflect each person’s current needs.
Record Keeping and Reporting
• Keep accurate and timely progress notes, incident reports, and communication logs.
• Report all incidents, risks, or changes in a resident’s condition promptly to the House Coordinator.
• Maintain confidentiality of all clients and company information.
Health, Safety, and Environment
• Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) and infection control procedures.
• Report hazards, risks, or maintenance issues immediately.
• Support emergency procedures and drills as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful home environment.
Teamwork and Communication
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, carers, and other staff.
• Attend handovers, team meetings, and training sessions.
• Work cooperatively with your team to provide consistent, high-quality care.
• Promote cultural understanding and inclusion, especially when supporting residents from diverse backgrounds (including Australian, Indian, Chinese, Persian/Farsi, and Sri Lankan communities).

Qualifications and Requirements
• Certificate III in Disability, Community Services, or equivalent experience.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (mandatory).
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred).
• Experience working in residential or community-based support (preferred).
• Manual handling, PEG feeding, Bowel support
