Key Responsibilities
• Direct Support: Assist individuals with daily activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household management. This includes helping with personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility support.
• Community Engagement: Promote social inclusion by encouraging participation in community activities and fostering relationships among residents.
• Individualized Care Plans: Develop and implement personalized care plans that cater to the specific needs and preferences of each individual, ensuring their well-being and development.
• Health and Safety: Monitor health needs, administer medication as prescribed, and provide emergency medical assistance when necessary.
• Behavior Support: Utilize behavior support strategies to assist individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and progress towards individual goals, contributing to ongoing assessments and adjustments of care plans.
Qualifications and Skills
• Educational Requirements: Typically requires a diploma or higher qualification in community services, disability services, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous experience in a care or support role is often preferred, particularly in residential or community settings.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building rapport with clients and their families.
