The South West is one of the fastest growth areas in WA and Vasse is under 3 hours from Perth. We are looking for a positive, compassionate, and committed vet nurse to join our growing, busy, small animal vet hospital.
Purpose designed and built with ASAVA accreditation; our modern hospital boasts excellent facilities, state of the art equipment and is supported by a dedicated, enthusiastic team.
We are looking for a qualified vet nurse (Certificate IV or equivalent), who can be registered in WA, has a strong work ethic, good time management skills, confidence, enthusiasm with a sense of humour, and pleasant personality mandatory. Competent in English and a current drivers’ licence.
Great nurse-vet trust is essential and good communication with clients and other staff members is paramount. The successful applicant will be a team player, highly motivated and an excellent communicator. Personal time is respected, as is dedication to time at work as it is a busy practice.
We have the latest technology and equipment, including digital radiography, PT/APTT machine, blood gas, endoscopy, and ultrasound amongst other standard operational equipment.
A willingness to be involved in ongoing training and CPD is essential. A history of CPD involvement that can be demonstrated will be favoured.
Our hospital is open 8am – 6pm Monday through to Friday and Saturday 9am – 1pm. Full time hours are required with the possibility of overtime. Hours required to work are negotiable within the team. A 1 in 3 on-call roster is expected.

Nurses play a vital role in patient care in this busy hospital and computer literacy and technology capabilities will be a must.
Experience essential, pleasant personality mandatory.
Full time hours with up to 1 in 3 on call. We cover the entire southwest so on call can be very busy.

Above award rates, salary up to $76,600 p/a including on call.
WA RVN current registration will be required upon commencement.
Must be capable of performing all duties associated with Veterinary nursing, animal care attendant and reception as well as nursing administration.
Some of these include:
* Admit all procedures, TPR patients preop, Consent form explained and signed.
* Work out premedication doses, Fill in S8 form, draw up medications under direction of vet, label.
* Fill in anaesthetic forms for patients, details, premed, TPR./ monitoring/materials
* Set up treatment room/Surgery/Xray for procedures.
Get animals prepared including bringing and lifting onto table
Fitting catheter when required
* Monitor anaesthetics for all procedures
Scrub in when required to assist in surgery
* Recover animal after anaesthetic/ e collars
*Assist Consult vet with whatever they need, lift animals onto table over 5kg or restrain animals over 20 kg on the floor for vet to examine
*Make up medications
*Clean treatment room/surgery/ Xray after procedures
*Fill in surgery room use form( ends up weekly)
*Clean dry and wrap instrument packs
*Autoclave instruments/drapes
* Discharge all day patients, discuss meds, make post op check appointment
* Follow up calls for all procedures, confirm checks
* Clean all cages, answer phone/ make appointments, take payments, washing, rostering, ordering, inventory management, HR and training of trainees
