About Us

Flemshire Pty. Ltd. operates as a grocery and related product merchant wholesalers in Rocklea in Queensland. They now seek a Quality Assurance Manager to join their team to oversee quality assurance and control over their FMCG and perishable produce.

The Role

This is a full time role with an annual salary set at $78,150 plus superannuation. The role is based in Rocklea in Queensland.

The Responsibilities

Your tasks will consist of:

Manage and oversee all aspects of quality assurance and quality control across FMCG products and perishable produce.

Ensure all produce is stored, handled, and displayed in line with HACCP, ISO9001, and Australian food safety standards.

Make final decisions on the approval or rejection of perishable products, including incoming stock, packaging materials, and supplier deliveries.

Develop, implement, and monitor compliance frameworks and training programs to meet food safety, quality, and regulatory benchmarks across all departments.

Lead the end-to-end quality oversight process, ensuring customer-facing outcomes align with safety, freshness, and retail quality expectations.

Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, stock integrity, wastage, and customer satisfaction.

Design and deliver staff training programs in quality control, food handling, and compliance, addressing identified skill gaps.

Coordinate activities that drive operational efficiency and food safety excellence, in line with strategic goals and retailer guidelines.

Design, implement, and maintain an ISO9001-compliant Quality Management System, including documentation, auditing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Analyse quality and compliance data to identify trends in wastage, spoilage, or customer complaints, and implement corrective actions.

Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure supply chain quality standards are consistently met.

Maintain and update documentation to meet regulatory and legislative requirements, ensuring traceability and accuracy.

Oversee regular food safety inspections, audits, and compliance checks across fresh produce, chilled, and packaged goods.

Investigate and respond to customer complaints, product recalls, and non-conformance issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.

Liaise with customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities; attend supplier sites and industry audits as required.

Stay informed of food safety regulations and retail compliance changes, ensuring effective communication and rollout of updates to staff.

Consolidate and interpret food safety and quality data into clear, actionable reports to support management decisions and strategic planning

The Requirements:

To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Quality Assurance, or a related discipline.

At least 3 years’ experience in quality assurance and compliance within FMCG, grocery retail, or fresh produce supply chains.

At least 3 years’ experience developing, implementing, and maintaining ISO9001 or HACCP Quality Management Systems.

At least 3 years’ experience conducting internal and external audits, supplier quality assessments, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

At least 3 years’ experience investigating incidents such as product recalls, spoilage, and customer complaints.

Strong knowledge of Australian food safety legislation and perishable goods handling standards.

Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and presentation skills.

Ability to work under minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.

Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, reporting, and flow-charting software.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively and cooperatively with staff, suppliers, and regulatory authorities
