Working Location:
This position can be fully remote, but also offers a hybrid option. We are located in Hingham, MA on the south shore of Boston, Massachusetts.
Description:
Arris seeks is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Underwriter with +5 years of underwriting experience with an advanced level of underwriting detail. The role requires an ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing strict adherence to established underwriting guidelines. Candidates are expected to perform in-depth risk analysis of property exposures across a wide range of occupancies as well as the ability to underwrite catastrophe exposures.
This position reports to the President/Director of Underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
Analysis and rating of shared, layered and excess property risks
Ability to grow and maintain successful client relationships
Review and negotiate form wordings and coverages and demonstrate a strong understanding of current market conditions
Execute on production goals while managing the portfolio to profitability
Must be willing to travel as needed, but no more than 20% of the overall role.
· Minimum of five (5) years of Excess and Surplus Property Underwriting experience
· Robust understanding of insurance and underwriting terms, definitions, and processes including policy forms
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with AIR’s Touchstone system is preferred
· Four-year college degree in insurance, business administration, actuary science, or management strongly preferred
· The individual must have a desire to learn in a fast paced, evolving environment while demonstrating a good work ethic and problem-solving capabilities.
· Must hold active applicable insurance license(s) - or obtain license(s) upon hire by completing pre-licensing course and passing the applicable state Property and Casualty Licensing exam.
