We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Production Manager (Forestry) to lead and optimise forestry production operations across harvesting, processing, and resource utilisation activities. This role is suited to a hands-on leader with strong operational planning skills, a commitment to safety and sustainability, and the ability to balance productivity, cost control, and environmental outcomes. You will play a critical role in ensuring production targets are achieved efficiently while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, implement, and continuously review forestry production strategies to meet operational, financial, and sustainability objectives
Coordinate daily and long-term production activities, ensuring output, quality, cost, and timeframes align with business requirements
Monitor production performance and expenditure, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and availability of production plant, machinery, and equipment
Lead the acquisition, installation, and commissioning of new plant and technology to enhance productivity and safety
Direct and optimise forestry production methods, incorporating research, innovation, and industry best practices
Ensure production activities comply with occupational health and safety, environmental, and forestry regulatory requirements
Maintain accurate production records, reports, and forecasts for management and compliance purposes
Liaise with senior management and other departments to communicate production outcomes, risks, and improvement initiatives
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate operational staff, fostering a high-performance and safety-focused culture
Required Qualifications & Skills
Tertiary qualification in Forestry, Production Management, Engineering, Agriculture, or a related discipline
Proven experience in forestry production, operations management, or a similar resource-based industry
Strong knowledge of forestry production systems, plant operations, and maintenance planning
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs, and analyse production performance
Sound understanding of occupational health and safety and environmental compliance obligations
Well-developed leadership, communication, and team management skills
Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Proficiency in production reporting systems and standard office software
Preferred Qualifications
Postgraduate qualification or professional certification in forestry or operations management
Experience with large-scale forestry operations or multi-site production environments
Knowledge of continuous improvement frameworks and production optimisation methodologies
Familiarity with Australian forestry regulations and sustainability standards
