We are currently seeking an experienced full-time Production Horticulture Supervisor (ANZSCO 070499) to join our operation based in Lennard Brook, WA 6503, 80km north of Perth.
If you are an experienced Horticultural Production Supervisor and have experience in the production of citrus or other horticultural crops, then we would like to hear from you.
This hands-on role is expected to work alongside and coordinate farm crews and manage the administrative functions of the farm. The main responsibilities are to optimise farming practices to improve fruit quality for export market. Previous experience where export markets were targeted would be highly regarded.
Salary: $68,000 - 75,000 per annum plus superannuation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure scheduled crops for intended harvest have passed the withholding period
• Ensure the appropriate maintenance and servicing of plant and equipment
• Irrigation scheduling, fertigation, irrigation maintenance and repairs.
• Liaise with the Management to optimize workflow and address operational needs.
• Ensure quality of harvest throughout harvest period to minimize damage.
• Identify and carry out regular pest and disease inspections to maintain crop and tree health.
• Establish new horticultural crops.
• Operate chemical application machinery and other general farming equipment.
• Training contractors and others in operations carried out on the property.
• Manage the post-harvest cooling and handling process to maintain optimal quality.
• Oversee and maintain specialized harvesting and packing equipment, ensuring it is always in excellent working condition.
• Monitor crop quality throughout the entire growing and harvesting period to minimize damage and waste.
• Coordinate on-site activities, including team schedules and safety protocols.
• Develop and implement post-harvest programs to ensure the longevity and freshness of the final product.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and experience:
• At least AQF Certificate III or IV in Horticulture, Agriculture, or Leadership and Management, or equivalent industry experience.
• Five years employment experience as a production horticulturalist to substitute any formal training
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of pest and disease control, and a commitment to safe work practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
