See Yourself in Our Team: The Engineering Platforms team is seeking an experienced Principal Software engineer to join us, with a function dedicated to working with Commonwealth Bank’s global engineering community to use both internal and AI assisted tools and capabilities in ways that improve the engineering experience and productivity. You will be working with CommBank’s top engineers and AI experts to drive training, culture and experimentation so that all our engineers are making the best use of the emerging technologies that make them happier and more productive. Skills Required: This is a highly technical role, requiring a broad range of skills, tools, languages, and frameworks and should include a number of the following: Tools & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Docker, Github, AWS infrastructure, WireMock, Pact, and test reporting tools like Allure. Technical Skills: Cloud: AWS, Serverless, Containers, and VM Hosting Databases: AWS Database technologies (Aurora, RDS, Redis), ElastiCache, Oracle Languages: Typescript, Java, Python, C# Eventing: SQS, SNS, EventBridge, KAFKA (MKS) Engineering: Github, Github Actions, Terraform Enterprise, Artifactory, AKKA, SST Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Observe, CloudWatch Security: Vault, Security Management, Parameter Store, AWS Certificate Manager, AWS Secrets Manager Design skills Testing: TDD, BDD, Automation Framework System Design: Tech debt, data-intensive applications, database design, API design, microservices, event-driven and serverless architecture Engineering: Deployment methodologies, SRE Payments: NPP, SWIFT, BIAN- Desirable AI: AI in engineering (e.g., Cline, CoPilot), RAG, MCP, Gen-AI, Agentic-AI, machine learning Certifications (preferrable) - AWS: AWS Solutions Architect and DevOps Engineer Professional; AI: AWS AI Practitioner and Machine Learning Specialty Containers: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) / Certified Kubernetes Developer (CKD) Working with us: Our people bring their diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives to build a respectful, inclusive, and flexible workplace with an ultimate flexibility to work from any of our engineering hubs within Australia.
