Principal Hydrogeologist – QLD Our Brisbane groundwater team is looking to build our capacity to deliver high quality work through the addition of an accomplished and professional Principal Consultant. In this role, our ideal candidate will be a core member of the team, leading technical delivery, demonstrating robust project management capability, scientific communication skills, and client management. Our 50 plus person Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) Technical Discipline is one of the largest in SLR Australia and includes over 35 Hydrogeologists. We work in a collaborative environment across our H&H teams in Brisbane, Townsville, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and closely with other SLR environmental specialists. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry and Power, with a focus on resource projects. About the role and what you need to succeed Key skills and specialist technical areas: High level client management abilities, well versed in enhancing relationships with our key clients to maintain and grow SLRs brand in the region. Strong project management experience particularly in managing large technical projects and within the resource sector, balancing stakeholder requirements between client, regulator and other involved parties. Thorough understanding and application of QLD groundwater related legislation and guidelines as applied to resource, development and infrastructure projects. Working knowledge of other relevant National and Queensland groundwater legislation and policies, standards and guidelines. Robust technical understanding, with extensive experience applying best-practice groundwater science to solve groundwater management problems. Extensive experience preparing large (+$100k) bids for technical work, including satisfying formal government Request for quotation procurement formats. Overseeing and mentoring junior staff through technical assessment and preparation of quality reports for internal and external clients on time and within set budgets. Contributing to winning work by identifying and converting opportunities and drawing on your client relationships. Providing advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Manager's on projects regarding best principles and practices. To be successful in this role Our ideal candidate will have 12+ year's industry experience, including experience within a consultancy group, and have: Appropriate Engineering or Science tertiary qualification and relevant groundwater industry experience. Demonstrated experience managing large multidisciplinary projects. Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team. Excellent communication skills and technical report writing. Demonstrated experience working with and successfully mentoring junior staff and managing upwards. A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships. Australia Citizenship or rights to work in Australia. Excellent driving history and hold a current driver's license.
