Base salary will be in the range of $104,616.68 - $113,920.12 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7) Based at our St Lucia location About This Opportunity In this short‑term opportunity, the Principal Communications Officer will play a key role in bringing to life stories of impact across the Faculty of Science. You’ll plan, create and deliver compelling communication activities that support UQ and Faculty priorities, with a strong focus on research promotion, while also contributing to internal communications and reputation management. You’ll help amplify our research capability, impact and achievements across Faculty and UQ channels, including social media and digital platforms, as well as provide strategic communication support to key internal stakeholders. You’ll write, film and edit video content as well as manage Bris Science – a public lecture series that brings science out of labs and to the people. You’ll also be part of a collaborative, high‑performing Marketing, Communications and Future Students team who deliver creative, impactful and audience‑focused communications, marketing, digital content and future‑student engagement. Key responsibilities will include: Communications Working with the Senior Manager, Manager, and central Marketing and Communications, contribute to the development and delivery of the Faculty Marketing and Communication plan, ensuring that the Faculty’s strategic priorities are appropriately supported by central and local communication efforts. Contribute to managing the delivery of communication services across the Faculty to meet local requirements in research promotion and stakeholder engagement. Play a key role in the promotion of Faculty research to increase recognition of academic contribution, identifying and leveraging the appropriate Faculty and School channels and external channels through which to build the profile of the Faculty’s research capability and impact and its high-performing academics. Stakeholder relationships Cultivate positive relationships and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including Faculty experts and professional teams, ensuring delivery surpasses expectation Teamwork Contribute to a high performing, fast-paced, audience-focussed Marketing, Communications and Future Students Unit, Faculty of Science. For a copy of the full position description, please email talent@uq.edu.au About You Tertiary qualifications with at least four (4) years’ subsequent relevant experience in communication or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training Strong knowledge in contemporary communication practices, as demonstrated through recent work experience and a track record of successful delivery. Experience delivering communications content and services to support promotion of research discoveries, impact and research capabilities High level of proficiency using marketing and communications platforms and software. Demonstrated experience translating complex information into plain language as demonstrated through recent work experience and a track record of successful delivery. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers. Demonstrated analytical and interpretative skills and an ability to exercise judgement and problem solve. Proven ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage projects, work independently and proactively, and meet deadlines with attention to detail Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and outcomes focussed.
