Estrin Saul Lawyers Pty Ltd is seeking a Paralegal – Migration (Maritime & Global Mobility) to join our market-leading immigration law team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of immigration law and the maritime industry, supporting the global movement of crew and personnel across international waters. You’ll play a key role in preparing visa applications, coordinating mobility projects, and ensuring compliance for some of the world’s largest shipping and offshore operators.

About the Role
The Paralegal supports lawyers and registered migration agents in delivering specialised immigration law services to the maritime industry, with a focus on global mobility and workforce deployment. This role involves hands-on support with the preparation and management of visa applications, coordination of vessel crew movements, and liaison with shipping, offshore, and energy clients. The Paralegal plays a key role in ensuring compliance with immigration regulations and the smooth movement of international maritime personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Legal and Casework Support
- Prepare and format visa applications, supporting documents, and legal correspondence.
- Draft reports, briefing notes, and client updates, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with preparation of maritime crew lists and compliance documentation.
- Conduct basic legal research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of visa pathways relevant to maritime and offshore clients (e.g. Subclass 988, Subclass 400, Subclass 482, Subclass 494 and Subclass 186).
- Maintain and organise electronic and physical client files, ensuring document control and version management.

Client Liaison
- Liaise with shipping agents, vessel managers, and global mobility teams to obtain required documentation and provide status updates.
- Respond to client enquiries professionally and promptly, escalating complex matters where required.

Administrative and Operational Support
- Support lawyers and migration agents in the end-to-end preparation of visa applications, including drafting application forms, compiling supporting documents, and managing evidence checklists.
- Coordinate the collation, review, and submission of client documentation in accordance with Departmental requirements.
- Assist with monitoring visa expiry dates, maintaining compliance registers, and preparing client updates or reminders.
- Maintain detailed records of all case actions and ensure that matter management systems are accurate and up to date.
- Assist in implementing process improvements for visa preparation, lodgement, and tracking.

Quality Assurance
- Proofread all correspondence and documents for typographical and grammatical accuracy.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal workflows and templates to support efficiency and compliance.

Skills and Attributes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in legal or migration services, ideally with exposure to corporate or maritime clients.
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management software.
- Professional and client-focused, with cultural sensitivity and discretion.

Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV or higher in Legal Services, Migration Law, or Maritime / Marine Transportation.
- Experience in a law firm, migration agency, or maritime industry setting highly regarded.
- Familiarity with Australian immigration frameworks and Departmental systems (e.g. ImmiAccount, VEVO) advantageous.

Salary: $80,000
