Overview:
Pro Paint ‘n Panel is a leading automotive repair and collision centre in Hindmarsh, SA, specialising in high-quality panel beating, spray painting, and vehicle repairs for both private and commercial clients.
We are looking for a skilled Panel Beater to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and preparing damaged vehicle body panels to manufacturer and workplace standards, ensuring high-quality workmanship and compliance with safety requirements prior to painting. This is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Hindmarsh, SA.
Main tasks:
- Repair and prepare vehicles as per Job sheet and ensure good workmanship for painters.
- Remove imperfections / in-dents from defective vehicle parts by hammering.
- Straighten bent or damaged vehicle panels using adequate machinery
- Verify that we have the correct parts for the vehicle via matching the Job number and Order number on the Part.
- If parts are required, verify that they are correct and will fit the vehicle.
- Quality check your job before it leaves the Panel Shop area and ensure that you have signed each Job Sheet.
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Requirements as well as Pro Paint ‘n Panel’s safety requirements.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Minimum of a relevant Certificate III qualification plus minimum 1 year’ relevant work experience in the last 5 years.
- 3 years’ relevant work experience may substitute the formal qualification.
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of all vehicle collision repair tasks, technical, product, systems, especially including use of applicable safety equipment and apparel.
- Capable of dismantling and reassembling bodywork, mechanical and trim of vehicles including light commercial vehicles and small trucks to satisfactory standard.
- Capable of following instructions or when appropriate determine and implement repair process, including repair and/or identification of and replacement of parts to satisfactory standard.
- Capable of accurately measuring and re-aligning vehicle bodies using Z racks or International Car Bench and other appropriate technologies when available to satisfactory standard.
- Capable of aligning, fitting, fixing and welding body parts and panels to satisfactory standard.
- Capable of preparing, mixing and applying automotive body finishing fillers to satisfactory standard.
- Capable of maintaining and cleaning tools and equipment associated with body repairs and recognising any faults or deficiencies in equipment, including hydraulic equipment, air compressor operated equipment and air-lines.
- Task knowledge and application of equipment and processes for the safe and efficient operation of Cutting and Grinding Tools, Welders – cutting and welding; Jigs, Straightening Equipment.
Annual salary will be between $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
