Job description
• Soil testing and assessing the terrain, physical and soil characteristics of the orchards to identify nutrient deficiencies and determine the most effective use of chemicals and fertilisers
• Assisting in developing new methods of planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing crops to achieve optimum land usage
• Identifying micro-organisms and insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops, and assisting in devising methods of control
• Assessing the produce to set and maintain standards of quality to meet market requirements
• Ordering and arranging the supply of chemicals and fertilisers to Farm Managers, and giving advice on their use in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
• Collecting and collating data for research
• Assessing all planting, harvesting and other aspects of production processes
• Provide reports to advise producers on farming techniques and management
• Train other staff working on the orchards in improved production techniques
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

Diploma of Horticulture
Diploma of Business Management
Chemical Users Certificate
Excellent English language skills
