The Operations Controller is a key member of the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) – the nerve centre of WSI. You’ll support the Airport Services Manager by collaborating with stakeholders to provide coordination and control of all day-to-day Airport operations and incident responses, achieving a safe and on time airport. Also, you’ll work closely with our airline partners, government departments and emergency services. The role will initially be performed within regular business hours to support the development of processes and procedures. It will then transition to a shift-based position that supports our operational trials and testing, prior to the commencement of live operations when the role will require permanent shift work. Key responsibilities: Coordinate and manage the safe and efficient movement of aircraft on WSI aprons and stands. Manage the Airport Operational Database (AODB) and control the utilization/allocation of airport and airline/ground handling assets/resources using Resource Management Systems and other airport operational systems. Respond to and coordinate various levels of emergency and incident response. This includes activation of our Airport Emergency Plan, fire and terminal evacuation, security incident response and general day to day operational incidents, events or disruptions. Perform airline load control functions which includes preparing load sheets and being responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of weight and balance on an aircraft by calculating and coordinating the loading of cargo, passengers, and fuel. The contact person for airline representatives and network operations for the purpose of coordinating airline turnaround operations. Responsible for and performing airline movement control functions which includes coordinating airport/airline turnaround operations, disrupt coordination and day of operations planning. Effectively lead, manage and coach Operations Agents. Act as Chief Fire Warden and liaise with other members of the Emergency Control Organisation and/or emergency services to effectively respond to and manage all Terminal alarms while ensuring a safe evacuation of the Terminal if required. Support the Airport Services Manager and other AOCC functions with general day-to-day airport/airline operations as required. Facilitate a safe and efficient daily operation in accordance with services levels. About You This is a great opportunity if you have extensive Aviation experience, with solid knowledge of airport operations. Previous experience in an airport/airline operations centre is highly desirable. Prior experience in a complex and dynamic operational shift environment with competing priorities including incident and emergency response. Knowledge of airport and aircraft turnaround processes. Systems literate and technology astute. Knowledge of Air Traffic Control processes and aviation radio phraseology highly desirable. Sound knowledge of Aviation Security Legislation standards, policy and procedures. Extensive experience with computer-based airport operating and security systems (AOS, CCTV, Access Control etc). A highly effective people / team leader with excellent communication skills. Strong coaching for performance skills, with demonstrated ability to improve team performance. Strong organisational skills with the ability to apply priorities ensuring appropriate response to incidents. Knowledge of ground transport operations, road regulations and rules and using transport systems. Ability to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and/or other required security clearances. Aircraft Radio Operator Certificate.
