About the role
As an Operational Services Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth and efficient delivery of laboratory services. Working under general direction, you will apply your skills and knowledge to a variety of essential tasks, including sorting and accessioning specimens in line with established protocols, completing accurate data entry, and assisting with preparatory duties to ensure the timely storage and transport of specimens. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will contribute directly to maintaining high standards across the service.
This role also provides the opportunity to develop strong working relationships, as you will be the first point of contact for both internal and external enquiries. With professionalism and a customer-focused approach, you will ensure that all interactions are handled effectively, while supporting the wider team in delivering reliable and responsive services. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
Well-developed communication and customer service skills, with experience handling enquiries in a professional and supportive manner.
Competence in using computers, databases, and information systems, with the initiative to identify and escalate issues when required.
Relevant experience in pathology laboratory operations and a collaborative approach that fosters teamwork and mutual support.
