The Pavilion on Northbourne is a 4.5 star hotel located minutes from the CBD. Part of the Capital Hotel Group, this position presents an exciting opportunity in one of the best locations in Canberra.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Rooms Division Manager, the Night Manager oversees hotel operations from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. This role closely coordinates with front office staff and daytime teams, including restaurant, housekeeping, and maintenance, ensuring a seamless operational handover each morning. The position demands strong interpersonal skills for delivering exceptional guest experiences and sound operational judgment to manage the hotel effectively during nighttime hours.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead overnight front office operations; coach staff to deliver Capital Hotel Group service standards and prepare clear shift handovers.
• Complete the night audit; balance daily revenue and produce required financial and yield reports.
• Manage arrivals and departures; verify rates, update Room Master profiles and secure valid payment.
• Maintain cashiering controls: post manual and miscellaneous charges, reconcile credit cards, and balance float and cashier each shift.
• Safeguard cash, keys, guest data and safety deposit items; report suspicious behaviour immediately.
• Greet and acknowledge guests promptly and courteously; respond to requests, messages, wake ups and complaints; uphold confidentiality at all times.
• Take and process reservations by phone and email; allocate rooms and upsell hotel and restaurant services.
• Coordinate with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Security and F&B to resolve issues and keep the lobby and front desk immaculate and clutter free.
• Monitor overnight rates and inventory; collate competitor and industry information as directed to support revenue decisions.
• Adhere to credit, accounts, OH&S and risk policies and procedures; maintain professional grooming and contribute to hotel objectives by owning tasks through to completion

About You
We are seeking a dedicated hospitality professional with:

• 2+ years of hotel front office, duty manager or night audit experience
• Diploma level or higher in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business or Finance or Bachelor degree in Business or Information Technology.
• Strong understanding of Revenue and Reservations Management (RMS Cloud, Opera, Protel, etc.) and computer literacy – Opera Cloud experience an advantage.
• A passion for guest service and creating memorable stays.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and leadership skills.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to occasionally cover other shifts (no overnights) and some public holidays.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexible approach in adapting to guest
