  • Full Time, Permanent role

About the role

As a Technical Officer, you’ll be at the heart of delivering vital pathology services that make a real difference to communities across regional and outer-metro South Australia. SA Pathology’s Regional Services support laboratories across a wide network, providing timely and accurate testing in haematology, haemostasis, microbiology, clinical chemistry, blood banking and Point of Care Testing. By ensuring local hospitals have the diagnostic support they need, you’ll be directly contributing to better patient care and outcomes. To maintain this responsiveness, laboratory staff are required to live within 30 minutes of their workplace for on-call purposes.

In this role at the TGO1 level, you’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team. Your technical skills, problem-solving ability and eye for detail will be key in applying standard practices to a wide variety of laboratory activities. Every day, you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues, share knowledge, and build strong working relationships with clients as you guide specimens through testing and reporting. You’ll also have opportunities to be involved in technical project work—gaining new skills, growing your expertise and contributing to service innovation that benefits patients right across South Australia.

About You

You are motivated to deliver high-quality outcomes in a laboratory environment and enjoy making a positive difference through your work. With a balance of technical knowledge, practical skills and a collaborative mindset, you thrive in a supportive team while contributing to excellent patient care.

Essential Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a recognised laboratory qualification
  • Strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills
  • Organised and adaptable, able to problem-solve and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices, safety standards and WHS legislation
