Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and fully qualified Motor Mechanic (General) — Light Vehicle (LV) to join our busy regional workshop. This hands-on role covers maintenance, repair and diagnostics of the wide range of light passenger vehicles we service. You will be part of a small, skilled team delivering safe, reliable and timely vehicle servicing to meet compliance and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
*Perform fault diagnosis and repairs across mechanical and electrical systems (engines, transmissions, steering, brakes, suspension, in-car electronics).
*Conduct scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and roadworthy/safety inspections.
*Use diagnostic equipment and workshop management systems to identify and log faults, parts and labour.
*Replace and rebuild components, source parts and ensure correct reassembly and testing.
*Complete accurate service documentation, job cards and customer communications.
*Maintain tools, equipment and workshop housekeeping; observe all WHS procedures.
*Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement and team training.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience (essential)
*Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30620) — or equivalent nationally recognised trade qualification.
*Minimum 3 years full-time trade experience working as a qualified motor mechanic in a LV workshop environment.
*Proven diagnostic and fault-finding skills across modern light vehicle systems.
*Current Australian driver’s licence.
*Own basic mechanic toolset preferred.
*Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
*Eligible to work in Australia.
Desirable
*Experience with workshop computer systems / diagnostic software.
*Prior experience working in a regional workshop or remote servicing environment.
*Experience with 4WD, light commercial vehicles or accessory fitment.
