Our client, J S Motors and Tyres, a reputable automotive service provider located in Pakenham, Victoria, is currently looking for a skilled and committed Motor Mechanic to join their experienced team. Renowned for delivering reliable, high-quality repair and maintenance services, J S Motors and Tyres has built a reputation as a go-to destination for complete vehicle care, ensuring customer vehicles remain safe and operate at optimal performance.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, diagnostic ability, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This role involves carrying out a wide range of mechanical services and repairs on passenger vehicles, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard of safety, quality, and efficiency.

The annual salary for the Motor Mechanic position is $76,600 to $77,000 plus superannuation.

Responsibilities include:

• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in engines and associated components.

• Disassemble and remove engine systems, gearboxes, steering assemblies, and other key parts for inspection.

• Repair or replace worn, damaged, or faulty components and reassemble systems using manufacturer service manuals as a reference.

• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil and filter changes, lubrication, and engine tuning to improve performance and meet environmental standards.

• Rebuild and reinstall engines and mechanical systems after repairs are completed.

• Test and fine-tune repaired parts and systems to ensure optimal functionality.

• Use diagnostic tools and computerised systems to assess performance issues and pinpoint faults.

• May conduct vehicle inspections and issue roadworthiness certificates or advise on required repairs to meet legal standards.

• May provide roadside assistance and emergency repairs in response to vehicle breakdowns.

• Maintain accurate service records and repair logs for each vehicle.

• Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.

• Communicate clearly with customers regarding vehicle issues, repair timelines, and service options.

Qualifications:

• Must have three (3) years of relevant experience.

• Should possess an AQF Certificate III with at least two (2) years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3).
