Our client, Craigieburn Tyre Service Centre, a well-regarded provider of high-quality automotive repair and maintenance services based in Craigieburn, Victoria, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Motor Mechanic to become part of their skilled team. Known for their commitment to excellence and dependable service, Craigieburn Tyre Service Centre has earned a strong reputation as a trusted destination for comprehensive automotive care, helping customers keep their vehicles safe and running at peak performance.

As a Motor Mechanic, it is essential that you have the passion to carry out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner. Your primary role is to carry out testing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting major faults, as well as overhauling engines and components such as transmissions, suspension, steering, and brakes, of a wide range of motor vehicle types.

The annual salary is $76,515 to $77,000 plus superannuation.

The Responsibilities (Some tasks may include, but are not limited to):

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including checking fluid levels, brake systems, steering mechanisms, generators, ignition systems, and electrical wiring.

• Use hydraulic jacks or hoists to lift vehicles for better access to mechanical components located underneath.

• Reassemble, test, clean, and fine-tune repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, using various instruments to confirm proper functionality before reinstallation in the vehicle.

• Use electronic testing equipment to diagnose and fix issues in lighting, instrumentation, electronic fuel injection, ignition, and emissions control systems.

• Diagnose problems, identify cause-and-effect relationships, and assess information from multiple sources to determine the best course of action.

• Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering components, and dismantling them for inspection, referencing manuals as needed.

• Accurately fill out vehicle information on requisition orders, including mileage, engine number, registration number, and other relevant details.

• Diagnose, repair, and replace components associated with engine management and fuel injection systems.

• Follow all occupational health and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.

• Return specialised tools and reference materials to their proper places after use.

• Keep the service area clean and organised, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored neatly.

• Provide supervision and mentorship to apprentices as needed.

• Dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with established regulations and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

• Should possess an AQF Certificate IV in Automotive.

• Must have at least one to two (1-2) years of relevant experience in a commercial workshop setting.

• Must have experience working with mechanical systems.

• Mechanically minded

• Good with hand + power tools

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Able to pass a drug and alcohol test

• Verifiable work references
